Vegetarian Restaurants in Nairobi

My three months in Kenya made me explore the country more. I was mostly cooking my own food and sometimes eating out. Here, I will share some of my favourite vegetarian restaurants in Nairobi. Most of them don’t some Vegetarian food only but they will have a good range of vegetarian meal.

Kenya is one of the easiest countries to live in as a vegan because of the availability of farmers fresh fruits and vegetables in every market. You can never go hungry or struggle finding food as a vegan anywhere in Kenya. There’s the option of grabbing a roasted corn by the road, a plate of nicely chopped fruits from a Kibanda(Kiosk), or just pick some veggies and make your own meal.

In case you’re the eat out kind of Vegan or Vegetarian, here is a list of restaurants that will definitely understand what you need.

Chowpaty – This restaurant is vegetarian Friendly, has vegan Options, and gluten free options. It’s an Indian cuisine restaurant. Location is Westlands.

Urban Eatery is in PWC Tower, Delta Corner
Chiromo Road, Westlands. Looking at the menu online, I didn’t think I would have much of a choice but when I ordered at the restaurant, they knew their menu well and could recommend vegan/vegetarian meals.

Flame Tree Restaurant has Gluten Free Options, and is vegan friendly. It’s inside Sarova Panafric Hotel located on Kenyatta Avenue in the city centre.

Harvest Restaurant is at Trademark Hotel Limuru Road inside the Village Market. If you love salad, try the Peach Citrus Salad. It’s vegetarian friendly and you can get good vegan meals just by asking the waiters for recommendation.

Food Train on KenRail Tower, Ring Rd Parklands is an Asian restaurant offering vegan choices on the menu, such as sushi and Chinese and Thai dishes with tofu or vegetables.

Bridges Organic Restaurant – A health food restaurant that serves traditional Kenyan cuisine prepared with organically grown produce. It’s in Tubman Rd, Upperhill Food Court, Upperhill

Mambo Italia is an Italian restaurant serving pizza, pasta, salads and desserts with labeled vegan options available. It’s on Lavington Curve, 2nd Floor, James Gichuru Rd.
